Younger adventurers will love the Parc de l’Aventure, just two minutes from the ocean, where they can enjoy accrobranche (tree climbing), mini-golf, go-karting and donkey rides. The courses are of several levels, and include over 60 games.
For culture, head for the La Grange du Patrimoine museum, which tells the story of 100,000 years of Médoc history.

Here, the Bordeaux vineyards and their prestigious wines take center stage. There are plenty of places to visit and taste (in moderation), including the Médoc and Blayais regions.
The village ofHourtin is dominated by pine forests. The commune shares with Carcans the largest enclosed lake in France, covering over 6,200 hectares. It is fed by small rivers called ” crastes “. It then flows via the canal des étangs into Lac de Lacanau and the Arcachon basin.
For more bucolic strolls, the Réserve Naturelle des Dunes et Marais de Hourtin is the largest, covering 2,150 hectares. It’s home to many different ecosystems and stunning, beautiful landscapes.
Then head for Lège-Cap Ferret, with its lighthouse, its famous bird island, and the calm waters of the Banc d’Arguin, to discover on foot or by boat. You can enjoy oysters with your feet in the water. For sports enthusiasts, the famous Dune du Pilat is not far away.
If you’re looking for something a little out of the ordinary, why not book a few days to visit the Citadelle de Blaye, the Cordouan lighthouse, or discover Saint-Estèphe, its cultural city and monuments, as well as the famous M vineyards.
Talmont-sur-Gironde is also an astonishing place, not least because of its geographical location, perched on a rocky promontory. Nicknamed the Pearl of the Estuary, it is one of France’s favorite villages. This fortified town boasts one of the finest Romanesque churches in the region, with its choir adorned with sculpted arches. The spot is splendid at low tide, at sunset, as you descend towards the rocks.
